Many of you know that I have a a bachelor's degree in marketing, and a bachelors degree in business management. As a former student of truth in marketing, and a bioethics fanatic ( of which is unrelated to this topic) I am interested in a unique marketing phenomena unbeknownst
to many a baby boomer.
The marketing schemes of the 1950's-1990's are very different from the marketing plans in current use. The advent of the computer and internet has changed the way people purchase, and with this we have the good, the bad and the plain and downright ugly. It used to be buyer beware and it was not difficult to ascertain the good products from the bad products.
Times have changed, of course with that change we have new opportunity to enrich our shopping experiences and purchase items that have never been available to us before. What I find interesting is the advent of the "marketing blogs" as I call them. Seemlessly innocent in nature they appear to be bouncing products around, discussing the various wonders available from Susie Jane and Bobbie Jo. Harmless right? Who cares? Please don'tt get bored and leave me just yet, allow me to explain and elaborate. YOU should care and heres why.
You are NOT getting an unbiased opinion of a product from susie jane q. You are receiving biased feedback from bloggers given incentives to promote the product. Don't get angry with me, I know its the wave of the future, I know its the trend. Is it RIGHT?????
Now for MY two cents on this, its NOT right, I know we have all been exposed to a concept called word of mouth advertising. We all participate in this on a daily basis. It occurs in the office, at school in neighborhoods, and in mommy playgroups. It goes something like this "
I found this great new whatchamacallit at so and so's and its so wonderful............ Interest gets piqued and ears become inflammed at the thought of some new product or service they have never heard of that can now make them incredibly thin or gorgeous or whatever. THIS is NOT what I am blogging about now. I am referring to professional bloggers being given products in return for their glowing reports. Why is this wrong? Its wrong because unbiased opinions are not being given, puffed up insincere praise is offered for free product.

My two cents, its not going to change the marketing industry, but I am not here to make you happy and peppy, I am here to tell the truth. Blog marketing can be very dangerous. Yes free products are great, but MAKE certain you are seasoning your reasoning with TRUTH.

HARRY GETS MY GOAT, SNARKY SALES REP

Bloggie friends, oh dear sweet friends it has been too long hasn't it.
Well I know I have forgotten you for a little bit but I am back with a hilarious Story.
Most of you know I work for a large company that deals with pharmaceuticals and medical supplies and such. Love the company, love my coworkers but well lets say the sales reps are arrogant.
I got a phone call yesterday from Harry- When I answered the phone I always say,
"Good morning this is Helen how can I help you?"........ He says "Hi this is Terry,"or so I THOUGHT I HEAR TERRY but No it was Harry. So I say "Hi TERRY how are you?", and he replies" THAT SHOWS HOW MUCH YOU ARE LISTENING ,IT IS HARRY." Well I profusely apologize ( I am being recorded and listened and monitored) So I do the right thing and slice up a piece of humble pie and put a little ice cream on it and start eating. Let me tell you the retort was less than nice, I help him out and STILL apologize. At the end of the conversation I say Harry please forgive me I am so sorry, he replies " well Grace, thank you anyway" (SMART ALECK that he is)
SO I reply back

WELL THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR MEASURE OF GRACE, IT IS APPRECIATED.
HAVE A NICE DAY. What a jerk he was. After I got off the phone I was determined NOT TO LET TERRY ER I MEAN HARRY RUIN MY DAY

HELLO bloggie friends, I know long time no talk, i have alot to say, just not alot of time.

So here is the latest, yesterday was a long long long day. I had the very last customer of the day call me at 6 :30 pm. She was from New York city. She sounded like an old Jewish bubbie ( grandma) She sounded like the cutest little thing BUT OH MY she just about drove me nuts.

She made me go over and over and over her order, when it came time to process the order I think even the COMPUTER was confused because the COMPuter refused to process the order.

I saved the order and told Bubbie I would call her back on Monday, God blessed me with that call, hahah , at LEAST the Lord was gracious to me and I did not lose my mind or my hair.

Hello friends in bloggy land,
its just another Saturday night here at the homestead, candles light, mind in contemplation.
Thinking of Tomorrow.

How was your Saturday, Mine was spent, 1. getting an outrageoulsy hideously haircut, yes I said it, hideous. Thank God hair grows back But now I have to figure out how to wear this wig for the
next oh lets say 8 weeks till it grows back
2. Sprinkled my carpet with Pet Fresh- then vacuumed it- smells marvelously wonderful and makes the room smell good.
3. Did some laundry
4. Spent some time with hubby
5. Spent some time with Friends

What all did you do.

Oh I found a fabulous shopping cart baby thingy at Krogers, its is a pvc free cover for the shopping basket for my nieces baby she is having, it was selling for 11.50 and marked down for
3.50, I thought that was a bargain worthy for the baby basket, I will keep my eyes peeled for Bargains.

I sure hope she shares the wealth with the twincess.

One thing I am not happy about is my spotted dishes, they NEVER look nice, and it is very very embarrassing to have to double check a glass before I CAN offer a guest a glass of sweet tea,
I have to keep checking and looking. There have even been times I threw away a cabinet full of glasses thinking they were etched, no they were spotted, had had the Turbo Jet dry I never would have had to throw out a cabinet full of dishes.

Debbie Downer, Mark Morose, candy crier,

what do all of these people have in common??
You guessed it, whiners, moaners and groaners.

Frankly its contagious, Wendy whiner whines and goes to talk to Debbie Downer who carries on about how bad life is, she then goes and talks to candy crier, you get it, and so on and so on and so on and so on

"I didn't get my raise, I didn't get my day off, nobody likes me, my review stunk, you get it.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA " in close quarters, this spreads like the flu

QUICK CALL THE WHAMBULANCE`````

Don't get me wrong there are legitimate situations and complaints sometimes but all the moaning, groaning and testifying to the negativity wears very very thin. I know I need encouragment, uplifting, edifying. In fact last week one of my lovely coworkers gave me a printout from a website that was extremely beneficial, I was able to read it and really relate.

I will step off my soap box for now till tomorrow.

What a weekend!!!

Here I sit on a Sunday Evening, it was a really good weekend. We had dinner with a good friend Friday Evening, Saturday was a cosmetic run with my girlfriend. I ran out of my face makeup and mascara and a few other necesseties, so we ran to Nordstroms. I hate spending money on
cosmetics but I have to put some paint on the barn door.

Today I saw in a quick television expose about a very wealthy man who lost his job as a
hedge fund manager and is now delivering pizza. The Lord is allowing these sufferings for a reason, is he trying to get our attention? I truly don't have the answers but I know the Lord is in the midst of the adversity and will work all things out for his glory.

My Lifes verse is trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy paths, Proverbs 3: 5.

God is good all the time, all things work together for good, even the bad things work together for our good.
" I JUST KEEP TRUSTING THE LORD AS I WALK ALONG, I KEEP ON TRUSTING MY LORD AND HE GIVES A SONG, THOUGH STORM CLOUDS DARKEN THE SKY OR THE HEAVENLY TRAIL, I JUST KEEP TRUSTING MY LORD HE WILL NEVER FAIL.

I think alot of people think in terms like this such. I work with people who have this mentality and I have to force myself to not get into that mode.
It is easy to think that way, we get caught up in the thrills of tomorrow, what if this is as good as it gets???
